"Perfect location and nice to have parking available on site. Fun to stay in a historic hotel. The rooms were clean. Room temp was a little uncomfortable...couldn't seem to keep room cool enough and A/C automatically went back to 75/76 every time we left. Nice to be able to walk out the front doors and be on the strip. We tried the courtyard for breakfast twice and it was very good. Sunday brunch was very good. The Generals restaurant they..."

"This was a fantastic and historic experience. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the hotel was perfectly located to be able to see all the sites and never move your car, steps from a bakery for coffee and Danish, or have sunday brunch with prime rib and a full desert bar!! Wandering through the halls, the library had a video playing with the history of the hotel. The restaurant was great and when there was an issue it was handled..."

"The DeSoto Hotel is a charming step back in time. As the oldest operating hotel in Illinois, it carries so much character and history, from the architecture to the decor that makes you feel like you're part of Galena's past. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and you could sense the stories the walls could tell. While it is an older hotel, that's part of the appeal, creaky floors, high ceilings, and antique touches everywhere add to the authentic experience...."

"My is a lovely place. I see the need to keep an older look. With it being an old place. I get the lack of outfits. But with today a lamp with outfits by the bed would be handy. The chairs as cool as they look aren't that comfortable. But I will say the beds awe awsome. Service when eating was great in all 3 places."

"Made a mistake and booked the wrong night. Front desk was very helpful and canceled my booking which I really appreciate. Had a few drinks at the bar later and the staff there was also really great."

"Staying at the DeSoto House Hotel felt like stepping back in time in the best way. The location on Main Street couldn't be more perfect, the included parking is a huge bonus, and the whole place is full of history and charm. Our room was clean and comfortable, the staff were warm and genuinely helpful, and the on-site restaurants and bar made it easy to relax without ever leaving the building. I'd absolutely stay here again and recommend it to..."

"Love the DeSoto House Hotel. Historic hotel which has kept alot of its charm - still using brass keys. One of the best places to stay in town. Perfect location to walk main street and experience Galena, with parking garage for guests (this is the value - parking and transportation are challenging otherwise). They surprised us with champagne and heart rose set up on the bed. Breakfast buffet was great. Love this hotel and will definitely stay next time, when..."
